Devlog #13 - WIP and more
Here I'm again. This time will be bit more detailed :)
So good so far after working on a level, I have added few things to test. Currently also working on some puzzle in first area and got some other ideas for next area, so basically each part will be expanding slowly, as I'm planning to make a huge backrooms level, where will be not only just exploring, but trying to pass each puzzle to go further. Every area will have something new and different. Same that entities might show up, still thinking about whether to make them attack you or to make you feel more uncomfortable, while playing, but lets not spread to far...
Coming back to first area after KV-31:
- I have slightly adjusted the entrance through KV-31, so basically it will not be so wide and there will be a bit of light before corridor and some shelf with 4 flashlight (I think some people would start wondering why there are 4 flashlights, as few of my friends who saw video, said that probably I added them due to testing reasons... but that's not true. I will not share actual view of how it looks right now... But here is the slight spoil :)
I have temporary disabled the warp part to have this view for a while through the KV-31.Its kinda visible, that this area is not wide already. And there will be waiting 4 flashlights on the right shelf.
Lets move further O_o
- Passing the dark corridor, there will be no lights, its not comfortable to walk in the dark, many people knows about it... but entering the first area of backrooms, I have added some lockers and table with informational clipboard near.
- Players will be able to pick up and read the info. This is a good example, how informational clipboards will look like.. They will contain a lot random info, like:
- Info about entities
- Some quiz questions that will lead you further
- Different hidden messages from past explorers that lost in the backrooms.
There will be a lot to explore and wonder about what happened in those backrooms...
And the last, but not least part for this time...
- I think many people who owns VR headsets prefers to play together with friends.. So I have started to work on Multiplayer while there are not much stuff added, which makes me a good start with Multiplayer part. I've already did some tests with a friend, there are still some issues with sync as not 100% properly works, but currently it already connects us both and we see synced hand movement, walking is glitchy and not syncing grabbing and interacting with items (this is my first time working on Multiplayer, so it will not be so easy.. but I will try my best! ) Also I can say that it works fine with Valve Index, HTC Vive and Quest 2/Quest 3 headsets. Sorry for Valve Users, currently I don't have plans to make finger tracking via trackpad, but I think this will be in future :) its hard when I don't have opportunity to test it, but I'm always open for good people who would like to test and help me improving in Unity development and progress. If you are interested in that, let me know, I will think about creating a discord server for that.
I don't have any screenshots or videos on how tests went... Also I haven't added a full body character, so this is still postponed. First I want to finish with multiplayer and then I will start working on characters. I have a lots of ideas for this game to make a more interesting and realistic immersion. Assuming that I have played a lot of VR games and more or less, I do like that, when playing in VR you are able to interact with as much as you can... As in real life. I'm not planning to make like a static pose for grabbing items, like many games has, for example, grabbing a flashlight, when you pick up in game, it has a static assigned pose for it, my game will allow you to grab in any pose flashlight,as you would be able to pick up it in real life.

I'm not a vtuber or vloger, I'm not much into the talking on videos, but thinking to start something like that for my videos. Also you may find other videos from gaming and not only.
